Another Thing I Learned From Not Killing Stephen King… Whaaaaat?

Why I Am Writing This

This is an amusing, but serious, account of the lessons I learned from 2008 – 2015 during the entire process of creating the feature film You Can’t Kill Stephen King, from conception, screenwriting, and fund raising to production, editing, Cannes!, and receiving checks from our agent for sales.

Every week over those 7 years, and even now, I learned something that either saved the day, or would have saved the day had we done it.  I kept notes of these lessons, and decided that if the film ever did succeed on even a small scale (and I believe it has), I would share these lessons with others.

I am writing this, then, for a few reasons

1. It’s a handbook for anyone thinking about making an independent feature film
2. It’s an amusing account of a comedy of errors that ultimately succeeded that many I’m sure will find interesting to read
3. It’s a handbook for myself to use the next time I produce a feature film—while there are many things I would do exactly the same, there are many other things I would absolutely do differently. I do not want to forget these lessons.
4. It’s one way of saying thanks to everyone in the cast and crew who was a part of the production: I hope these posts bring back all the fond and not-so-fond memories, and in so doing, brings a few smiles and laughs to your face.

I hope that you all find the posts that follow interesting.  Funny.  Helpful.  Instructive.  Inspiring.

And remember: You can’t kill Stephen King.  No Really, you can’t.  It’s impossible.
